Chemonics seeks a finance manager for the 5-year USAID Sustainable Peace Activity in Ethiopia. The goal of this program is to create a platform where USAID/Ethiopia can assist Ethiopian stakeholders to demonstrate greater resilience to prevent and respond to destabilizing manifestations of conflict. The finance manager oversees and ensures the overall financial management of the project, including operations and grants expenditures.??Fluency in English is required and working knowledge of Amharic or other local languages is preferred. The position is expected to be based full-time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure overall project financial management
  • Manage and maintain accounting and finance records for all grants and project activities
  • Account for and pay all project invoices
  • Track monthly ?burn rates? and compile monthly financial reports
  • Track and transfer funds between Chemonics HO and the field office
  • Responsible for the processing of all cash transactions and wire transfer payments
  • Responsible for ensuring the security of all project funds
  • Ensures project vendors are paid on time
  • Maintains appropriate financial and administrative documents in line with Chemonics and USAID policies and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or relevant field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in administration of USAID-funded contracts or grants in developing countries
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply USAID procedures related to financial management, contract administration, and procurement
  • Demonstrated understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to use financial management tools and programs
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Experience supervising project teams
  • Proficiency in Amharic and English required
