The Ethiopian Society of Sociologists, Social Workers, and Anthropologists (ESSSWA) have been implementing a project entitled: “Strengthening Social Services System in Ethiopia (SSSSE)” with financial and technical support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The overall objective of the project is to improve social services provided to HIV and AIDS infected and affected Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their families in Ethiopia by strengthening social service system and social service workforce and capacity building in four Regional Sates (Tigray, Amhara, Oromia and SNNP) and Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa City Administrations. ESSSWA with FHI 360 and 22 Implementing Partners intends to implement the IMpower sexual violence prevention curriculum across three regions (Amhara, Oromia, and SNNPR) and Addis Ababa city administration. ESSSWA is currently looking for competent and qualified candidates to fill the position stated below. Therefore, interested professionals who fulfill the requirements are hereby invited to apply for this post. POSITION DESCRIPTION: ESSSWA is collaborating with FHI360 to implement IMpower, the evidence-based child safety, and violence prevention program. IMpower Trainer of Instructors (TOI) will first go through an intensive, full-time 4-week training to learn the proven IMpower system of violence prevention, intervention, and recovery. During this training, TOIs will master a 12-hour curriculum for females ages 9-14 years that imparts mental, verbal and physical skills as well as feminist philosophy and human rights. They then will be responsible for implementing the IMpower curriculum with girls aged 9-14 years old in their own communities for at least 6 weeks. Following the direct delivery of IMpower with youth, TOI will go through a 2-week testing and training preparation workshop as a part of their certification process. Upon successful completion of this activity, this will be responsible for leading 3-week intensive training workshops to train new female IMpower Instructors. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: - Must be available to participate in 4-week training to learn the IMpower curriculum and prevention intervention - Implement the IMpower curriculum with youth aged 9-14 years - Plan, lead and manage full-day IMpower training up to 3-weeks in length to develop new female IMpower instructors - Provide ongoing coaching and skill development to new IMpower Instructors as they begin teaching the program to youth - Contribute to the development of a comprehensive referral network of prevention and aftercare resources and providers i.e. medical, legal, social - Set up and maintain Survivors In recovery Anonymous (SIRA) meetings for survivors - Conduct and collect basic M&E data from youth participants - Liaise with local child safety, gender-based violence organizations, stakeholders, government sources and schools. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: Requirements - First degree in health, social work, psychology and gender - English Language - Must be proficient in English, specifically able to read and speak - Proficient in Amharic and knowledge of other local language is advantageous - Available for 4-week training (full days) - Available to implement IMpower with youth from January 12, 2020, through September 30, 2020 - Previous experience working with community members e.g. voluntary, faith-based organization, local govt structures, school, community groups on gender-based violence, parenting, HIV/AIDS.
