Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ü Maintain a safe working environment according to safety policy and procedures ü Establish safe work procedures and practices for the site ü Conduct incident investigations and compile reports ü Follow up on implemented actions after the incident to ensure effectiveness ü Compile contractor safety files for customers as per the Construction Regulations and OHS Act requirements ü Ensure training records of all critical tasks and safe work practices are kept ü Conduct training on safe working procedures and practices ü Update medical surveillance in collaboration with the Occupational Health Centre ü Ensure internal and external training gets done as per schedule and training matrix is updated monthly ü Capture weekly and monthly SHE stats as per reporting timelines ü Coordinate the compilation of the SHE risk register and the annual reviews ü Maintain SHE reference manual and develop procedures, processes, and checklists ü Carry out internal audits and take part in external audits throughout the business ü Maintain records and documents associated with the implementation and coordination of ad hoc emergency drills – at minimum 2 per annum ü Carry out document control and distribution and communication of changes to the system ü Ensure that appropriate records are properly controlled, whilst also managing the proper storage and filing of controlled documents ü Ensure that all recommended PPE is purchased and distributed to employees ü Ensure that sanitation and cleaning materials are purchased as required ü Oversee the GMP and housekeeping of the site ü Conduct weekly GMP and housekeeping inspections throughout the site and report timely ü Advise management on all safety, health & environmental practices and requirements when new legislation arises ü Manage pest control activities for the site ü Conduct pest control inspections and report on a weekly basis ü Investigate any health and safety-related complaints on-site and provide adequate and appropriate solutions to management ü Make representations to management and report back to employees on any matters related to health and safety ü Discuss with employees, any matters which may affect their health and safety ü Identify all hazards on-site and conduct risk assessments for all lines ü Implement control measures for all hazards and risks identified ü Ensure adherence and compliance to local and international policies and procedures ü Control waste activities within the site and manage the waste area ü Follow up on disposal of waste and expired/rejected products and ensure that the proper process is done ü Ensure that certificate of destruction is obtained from the service provider for all disposals ü Coordinate monthly and annual SHE committee meetings and collate the information necessary for review by the senior management team ü Compile the minutes of the meetings and maintain the records for continuous or future reference ü Maintain the action tracker on a daily and weekly basis (accidents and incident reports, non-conformance reports, Near Miss reports, VFL walks and Risk Assessments are done, actions closed and records are kept) to focus SHE agenda on priority areas on site ü Follow up on compensation claims via Occupational Health Centre and ensure all documentations are received and filed with incident reports ü Send weekly SHE reports to Quality Management at ABIG ü Report any incident or accident to Quality Management at ABIG immediately Required Qualifications and Experience: · Degree in Safety, Health & Environment / Environmental Science · 4 – 6 years’ experience in a Food Manufacturing environment · Minimum 2 years’ experience in Safety · Internal Audit experience · Lead auditor qualification for Environmental Systems (ISO 14001) and Safety Systems (ISO 45001) advantageous Skills and Knowledge: · Knowledge of Safety, Health & Environmental Systems · Knowledge of relevant Manufacturing operations · Understanding of requirements of a document control system · Good communication skills and concentration · Computer literate · Methodical and accurate · Bilingual (English is a necessity) · Willing to work overtime when required · Ability to work independently · Ability to make appropriate recommendations to the Director of Quality Control and Assurance regarding Occupational Health & Safety · Excellent attention to detail · Accuracy and numeracy · Professionalism · Ability to work in a team and under pressure · Good leadership skills · Robust Safety, Health & Environment knowledge · Strong analytical and facilitation skills · Strong business/client engagement skills · ISO (9001, 14001, 45001) training advantageous · Flexible – must
