Organization for Child Development and Transformation (CHADET) is a charity organization that exists to inspire effective partnerships that ensure the provision of quality services for children made vulnerable by street life and work, risky migration, early marriage, orphanhood, domestic work, and HIV. CHADET has been implementing a Girls’ Education Challenge Transition (GEC-T) project funded by DFID aimed at supporting 16,503 marginalized girls to stay in school, learn and successfully transit in the different cycles of education. This project is a four-year project (2017-2021) to be implemented in 30 Kebeles in three Zones (South Gondar, South Wollo and Arsi) in Amhara and the Oromia Regional States. Now, CHADET is seeking qualified candidates for the Education Officer position who fulfills the following job requirements. Job Description Subject to the general guideline of CHADET, GEC-T Project and directives from the Project Coordinator, the Education Officer will be responsible for the implementation of activities under the following major components: - Collaborates and work with Zonal, Woreda Education Departments and offices to ensure that adequate technical assistance is provided to teachers teaching English and Maths and local language (Amharic); - Leads the timely collection of data on girls’ related to education; - Ensures that activities related to education are being implemented properly in the field; - Works closely with government stakeholders, cluster supervisors, education bureau focal persons, and CCCs in Amhara Region; - Conducts regular supportive supervision and surprise visits to schools to ensure that the project is running smoothly; - Facilitates education-related training, workshops, experience sharing visits and other capacity-building activities for project staff, teachers and volunteers; - Prepares periodic reports related to education activity milestones and outputs; - Performs qualitative and quantitative data analysis on the education component of the project as per the standard set in the project; - Properly documents education-related activities, data, and records including training and other capacity-building performance and best practices of the project and shares outcomes with concerned CHADET staff; - Manages, supervises and coaches Community Workers to enable them to plan and execute their duties to meet the standards and quality of performances; - Ensures all activities are performed and facilitates role offered to Community Workers is executed based on a clear plan that comprises what to do, where, why, and how; and activities are accompanied with a detail report respectively; - Ensures that the girls are benefiting from tutorial sessions run by schools and the reading corner facilities in the schools; - Ensures the classroom observation sessions are regularly executed by the cluster supervisors as planned using the standard tool; - Conducts regular supportive supervision and surprise visits to schools to ensure that girls attend tutorial classes, use reading corners and participate in club activities; - Organizes quarterly review meetings with cluster supervisors, focal teachers, and principals and prepares and shares reports with concerned GEC-T team; - Facilitates and ensures the distribution of scholastic materials and other forms of subsidies; - Ensures wise utilization of resources under his/her responsibility, - Identifies capacity gaps of staff under his/her immediate supervisor and propose necessary capacity building needs, - Completes performance management activities including performance planning, monitoring, and performance appraisals of staff under his/her immediate supervision, - In consultation with the Project Coordinator, propose any disciplinary action to be taken on staff under his/her supervision, when required, - Performs other activities as may be assigned to him/her by his/her supervisor; Reports to: Project Coordinator Employment term: One year contract with possible extension based on proven performance Job Requirements - A minimum BA Degree in Educational Planning & Management, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies or other related social science fields. - Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience on similar organizations and projects Skills and Abilities - Computer literacy - Strong interpersonal skills - Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken and written) is required How to Apply Interested job seekers who fulfill the above requirements may send their application letter, CV with three references and copies of their credentials within seven days to: P.o.Box- 5854, HR department; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia OR directly to Asella Project coordination Office.
