Position Overview

Based at our head office in Addis Ababa, to further strengthen our operations team, we are currently seeking an:

Your Mission

The Engineering Supervisor will fill an essential role in monitoring and maintaining plant equipment and overall maintenance needs, improving productivity, food safety, team member satisfaction, and operations efficiencies. The Engineering Supervisor will work under the direction of the Operation Manager and will be responsible for effectively maintaining and documenting the Plant and Equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM) plans, and ensuring that emergency maintenance needs are addressed promptly and effectively.

What you will do

  • Be the primary person for compliance with OM plan requirements and company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare annual preventive maintenance and lubrication plans that should be properly planned to not cause unnecessary downtime for the daily operational activity and production process.
  • Give tasks and follow up on the Senior electrotechnician and make sure that he will execute the tasks given to him properly.
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic machines with valves and piston cylinders.
  • Maintain and repair rolling equipment such as racks, machines, and trash trucks.
  • Maintain hydraulic loading dock plates, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Consult equipment manuals and phone or online resources to effectively maintain equipment in proper working order.
  • Keep all equipment lubricated and in good working order every day, preventing shutdowns by foreseeing potential problems with all necessary equipment.
  • Work with approved vendor partners to ensure smooth running operations.
  • Recommend the fast-moving spare parts required for all the machines and lines and make sure the right ones are ordered through his line manager.
  • Ensure proper LOTO procedure is in place and that all energy sources are disconnected properly before conducting any maintenance.
  • Daily verification that all the utility machines such as the Compressor, Generator, and Water treatment plant are working properly.
  • Participate in the selection of new/replacement equipment for the facility.
  • Work with integrity, accuracy, and moral conduct as related to all business opportunities and activities
  • Active involvement daily with all team members monitoring and verifying PM plan needs and emergency maintenance needs.
  • Manage relationships with approved third-party vendors whose expertise is essential to certain maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in continuous improvements to product safety and quality with various department members.
  • Follow all plant machinery and equipment safety, OSHA, Puratos Engineering standards, GMP, and other guidelines.
  • Assist the production team by verifying that there is no safety hazard in the pre-start-up and shutdown procedures/Checklist.
  • Validate that the 10 Golden Rules for safety are properly applied and inform the production supervisors and manager if there is any room for improvement to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the operators and laborers in the factory.
  • Assist the Operation Manager in the monthly safety walks and safety coaching conversations for the production team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

What we expect from you

  • BSC Degree in Electrical or electromechanical engineering
  • Experience (years & type of experience): 5 years relevant experience in Manufacturing
  • Special skills in welding are mandatory
  • Work experience in a food manufacturing factory is Advantageous.
  • Good English language skills (Reading, Writing & Speaking).
  • Other expertise: Excellent written & verbal communication skills
