Project Description The five-year READ II project, funded by USAID, will boost the quality of literacy instruction and student support, reaching out to children at risk of failure and dropout caused by cognitive, emotional and physical effects of hunger, violence, and displacement. READ II seeks to better equip teachers with effective early grade reading instruction techniques and materials in seven mother-tongue languages and English, while simultaneously building a culture of reading in the school, home and community. Position Description The producer is responsible for the overall quality of all recordings, sound design, and final mixes of the IAI programs. The producer works closely with other producers and scriptwriters in order to bring their scripts to life through recordings, sound design and mixing. S/he also assists the production coordinator to schedule actors, musicians, singers, and studio time, and ensures the work is completed in a timely fashion. Because these programs are being developed for various regions in Ethiopia, the producer will work closely with the various regions to ensure the music and sound effects are relevant and, if needed, adapted or edited. This position reports to the production coordinator and will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: The candidate for the position of Producer shall have among others, the following essential functions: - Assists production coordinator in maintaining the production schedule - Assists production coordinator with scheduling actors, musicians, singers, and audio engineers - Maintains regular communication with the scriptwriters to understand their vision and communicates it to the actors, musicians, and the rest of the production team - Record, edit, sound design, and mix some or all of the programs - Participate and contribute to the overall audio program design process - Work closely with the various regions to ensure the music and sound design are relevant - Assist in the formative evaluation of programs and participate in feedback sessions - Oversee any edits after the formative evaluation of the programs - Maintain electronic and analog records - Work timely and effectively to meet deadlines - Willing to work extra hours when necessary - Perform other duties as assigned Period: Part-Time for 3 months starting December 07, 2019 Qualifications and Requirements: - Experience in audio recording, music recording, sound for film, or equivalent preferred - Experience gathering and editing sound effects and developing sound design preferred - Experience with Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, or Logic preferred - Experience in developing production schedules - Experience working with actors in a studio environment - Ability to work with various musicians - Familiar with various Ethiopian music genres - Ability to adapt production schedules while maintaining deadlines - Ability to speak one or more local languages a plus and should be noted - Familiarity with various studios and/or audio engineers in Addis Ababa a plus - Excellent interpersonal skills - Excellent English communication skills How to Apply Follow https://smrtr.io/3Dgcs to send your completed application.
