The Royal Norwegian Embassy represents the Norwegian Government in Ethiopia. The Embassy facilitates bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Embassy has 12 Diplomats and 23 local employees. Background Norway has been a global frontrunner in the international effort to strengthen Human Rights and Gender Equality. Norway's ambition is to be a trustworthy and long-term partner within these fields in Ethiopia. We are currently looking for a well-organized and flexible individual with strong interpersonal skills for the position of Program Officer for Gender Equality and Migration. The Program Officer will be part of the Embassy's Bilateral Team. The main responsibilities of Gender Equality and Migration. - Serve as the Embassy's focal point on gender equality and assist on migration - Manage the existing portfolio and appraise project proposals within the field - Follow up agreements with partners, including government entities, multilateral organizations and civil society organizations (CSOs) - Represent the Embassy in external meetings - Write reports on developments within the area of work Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Analytical skills in assessing policies, strategies, programs, documents, and reports, as well as the ability to present concise and informative summaries 2. Ability to closely follow international, Ethiopian and Norwegian developments in his/her area of work and inform Embassy staff of new developments 3. The ability to work independently and meet deadlines under demanding conditions 4. Readiness to take on new tasks and areas of responsibility, if and when required 5. The daily work at the Embassy can be hectic and requires a high degree of flexibility and readiness towards tasks also outside the direct responsibility 6. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team consisting of both Ethiopian and Norwegian staff 7. Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Amharic. Good writing, presentation and communication skils 8. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook Education and Experiences 1. Higher University Degree in Relevant disciplines for the position 2. Experience with human rights, gender equality and/or migration is an advantage 3.
