The Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association (EHPEA) was established in 2002 as an autonomous and non- political, non-profit making organization instituted primarily to promote the interest of members. Its membership constitutes almost all Horticulture (flower, cuttings, fruit, vegetables and herbs) Producer Exporters in the country. EHPEA’s strives to promote the sustainable development of the sector and the competitive Position of Ethiopian Horticulture exports in the global market. EHPEA is looking for employment candidates for the following post: EHPEA is committed to promoting high standards of performance on member farms and to assist farms in the implementation of the Association Code of Practice. To support member farms with regard to the implementation of good employment practices, EHPEA is currently to expand its programme of training and support for farms to include Gender and Staff Welfare. Accordingly, currently, EHPEA is seeking to employ qualified and competent staff for the Gender Expert position. Job Summary The Gender Expert will work under the guidance of the Gender Project manager and is responsible to provide training and support for farms working to enhance staff welfare and implement Gender-Sensitive management policies in the horticulture sector. Major Duties and Responsibilities . Provide training for farm staffs, primarily farm Nurses and Peer Educators, in topics related to the implementation of gender-sensitive policies and staff welfare including reproductive health, nutrition, empowerment of female employees and prevention of sexual harassment . Assist with the management and achievement of project aims for Gender Project and work in cooperation with the EHPEA Capacity Building Project activities and EHPEA Training Team . Contribute to the development of training materials . Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports as requested by the Gender Manager . Contribute to the design and establishment of new project activities introduced by EHPEA or stakeholders to meet identified farm needs Terms of Employment: Employment will initially be for one year and renewable subject to Performance and project achievements Place of work: Addis Ababa and the surrounding area with periodic visits to farms in the Regions Minimum qualification & Experience: - Qualification in Legal background including Law, Sociology, Environmental Health, and Health-related background. - A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with gender, Social work, women empowerment in edutainment and or in practical and participatory training. Core Skills: The person appointed to this position must be able to: . Work with minimum supervision to meet project aims and objectives . Work effectively as a team member and communicate effectively with EHPEA Management and Staff, Farm Managers and Farm employees . Provide training, advice, motivation, and guidance for farms and farm employees participating in project activities . Contribute to the development of project ideas, initiation and implementation of project activities and evaluation of project outcomes . Contribute to the design of training courses and preparation of training materials using a variety of media . Achieve results in a challenging commercial environment .
