Your Opportunity:

The EMR and Clinical Systems Lead, a vital member of the Chinook Primary Care Network Evaluation Team, will proactively drive the effective utilization of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related patient care technologies. Working closely with other members of the Central Support Team, this role empowers clinics to implement the Patient’s Medical Home (PMH) model by optimizing EMRs to support safe and effective patient care. With a focus on innovation and problem-solving, the Lead will independently assess emerging technologies, troubleshoot challenges, and contribute to enhancing care quality and safety for patients across Southwestern Alberta. In collaboration with the Central Support Team and clinic stakeholders, the Lead will support streamlining operations, supporting clinical best practices, implementing screening protocols, and ensuring accurate data collection. Additionally, the Lead will support clinic-specific quality improvement initiatives and network-wide projects aimed at promoting effective practices and facilitating knowledge exchange. They will also actively seek out opportunities to integrate complementary electronic systems, such as patient portals and clinical survey tools, to enhance patient care. Furthermore, the Lead will take the initiative to identify opportunities for developing clinic support structures, standardizing practices, and achieving cost efficiencies through technology across the PCN. Additionally, they will engage in self-directed learning and exploration to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices. Collaborating with provincial partners like AMA ACTT, the Lead will monitor trends, propose solutions, and engage in collaborative efforts addressing issues impacting patient care across the PCN landscape.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree or college diploma related to technology, preferably with a strong technical background in a related field (e.g. health economics, business, statistics, quality assurance, etc.) or several years of equivalent experience and clear demonstration of expert knowledge of key technical tools and concepts.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience using EMR systems in the primary care/physician office environment, and familiarity with the day-to-day operation of primary care clinics. Experience working with related systems such as Alberta Netcare and CII/CPAR. Demonstrated knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Access). Good understanding of change management, project management, and quality improvement activities. Ability to train and mentor EMR users and teams to implement processes and standard procedures. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience working with quality improvement and change management methods. travel to physician clinics within the South Zone.
