Role Summary:

The Stakeholder Engagement Director will serve as the gateway to NIDP assisting the NIDP in successfully developing an ecosystem of partners, influencers, and supporters to ensure NIDP meets its short-term and long-term strategic objectives. S/He will create the communication and interaction bridge among internal teams as well as all key external stakeholders. With program management discipline this role is expected to prepare periodic reports for the program management team and assist the technical teams by following up their needs and channeling a means of communication with different teams.

Working closely with the Program Director and the Program Assistant manages engagement with all stakeholders local and international. Overseas scheduling and coordination of meetings, events, workshops, and general communication among NIDP and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for the Stakeholder Engagement Director will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assesses the nature, extent, and quality of relationships with stakeholder groups (local, international, steering committee, regions, etc) and determines better approaches when improvements on existing or planned practices.
  • Identifies and explains enabling factors and barriers that are affecting the stakeholder engagement process and makes recommendations for strengthening the enabling factors and removing the barriers.
  • Prepares successful stakeholder engagement plans, stakeholder mapping, and action plans for engagement by the program’s stakeholder engagement strategy.
  • Manages stakeholder mapping and directs communications with stakeholders and responses to stakeholder inquiries.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the program team, liaising with contacts of the Stakeholders and reports to the Program Director at NIDP.
  • Provides briefings and support to Internal teams on matters relating to external stakeholders
  • Manages stakeholder meetings regularly with technical team members and ensures feedback of stakeholder responses and requests to technical teams are responded to within agreed timescales.
  • Leads structured and ad-hoc workshops, roundtables, and conferences with stakeholders working closely with the events team at the NIDP communications unit
  • Ensures proper documentation is maintained of all stakeholder engagement and all contact/activities are recorded on the stakeholder tracking database.
  • Provides input into weekly/monthly reports for the Program Management Team and committees or technical working groups as required.
  • Follow up with stakeholders on action points and handle bottlenecks hindering engagements with stakeholders;
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature assigned by the NIDP Program Director;

Qualifications

Applicants for this position are expected to possess the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree or above in a relevant discipline (Management Information Systems, Project Management, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration/Policy, Law, Political Science, Communications…).
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in the field of stakeholder engagement, local community mobilization, capacity building, negotiation, and community social-development
  • Experience with project development, implementation, or demonstrations at local, national, and/or international levels involving stakeholder engagement and mobilization
  • Knowledge of National communities and Institutions is highly desirable; experience in similar previous roles is a strong asset
  • Experience with stakeholders in the public service sector is highly desirable
  • Experience in developing and successfully implementing stakeholder engagement plans
  • Experience in managing engagement with various stakeholders from government entities, UN Agencies, Civil Society, and the private sector;
  • Proven ability to work and multi-task under pressure, respond quickly to changing situations in complex project environments, prepare responses/narratives quickly and clearly, and use personal initiative.
  • The high degree of accuracy in executing work.
  • Ability to schedule work and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Broader project communications experience and skills are desirable.
  • Having background and exposure to ID and/or ID-related programs is an advantage.
