Background of the Project

SNV Ethiopia, partnering with Sight and Life (SAL), is implementing the Market-based Innovation for Nutrition in Ethiopia (MINE) project. The pilot phase of the project has been implemented in two Woredas from East Shoa Zone and rural Kebeles of Bishoftu city administration in the Oromia regional state. For the pilot phase (2022-2025), the project activities are being implemented, targeting a total of 333,400 pregnant and lactating women and 6000 children aged below two years. As part of this project, SNV is working to benefit children under the age of two years through a subsidized scheme intending to improve egg consumption practices and ultimately contribute to stunting reduction.

Purpose of the Job

MINE project, as part of its subsidy program, has been working closely with East Shoa zone Lume and Adaa woreda and Bishoftu city administration health offices through engaging Health Extension Workers (HEWs) to register beneficiary children from each kebeles, verify the list of registered children from each kebeles, establish subsidy shops, distribute coupons to caregivers, link caregivers to each subsidy shop owner to enable children to receive subsidized eggs.

The Project Assistant is part of an SNV Country Organisation and is appointed to assist the MINE project at a national level by providing support in the implementation of the project focusing on the subsidy scheme. The Project Assistant ensures service needs of the project team are delivered on time. The Project Assistant shall assist the Finance and Administration and subsidy plan implementation.

Job Description

Project payment settlement:

  • Regularly visit subsidy shops to collect used coupons, prepare payment summary sheets and submit to finance for reimbursement.
  • Regularly follow the finance team and Awash Bank for the release of payment.
  • Regularly update the project manager on the status of reimbursement by each shop.

Documentation and office management:

  • Facilitate event booking and participate in project meetings and other events.
  • Perform other MINE documentation activities related to subsidy settlement and beneficiary children profiles.

Project reporting:

  • Processes and organizes data, the set-up of reports according to requirements and performs routine analysis under supervision.

Project staff support

Provides support to project staff members, to support project processes.


  • BA degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields.


  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in finance and previous NGO experience has added value.
  • Having an experience in financial software is preferable.

  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Well organized and able to act professionally and ethically.
  • Good skills in computer applications (Especially in Microsoft applications).
  • Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, participatory approach, and sustainable development.
