Job Description

Pro Development Network (PDN) is a local non-governmental consortium of civil society organizations (CSOs), established in 2010 and certified by Federal Government of Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Authority for Civil Society Organizations with a registration number of 1701. With 56 member CSOs, it is one of the leading networks of civil societies in the country that adds values to its members through creating better access to resources, and establishing strategic alliance with key stakeholders. PDN envisions becoming a network of vibrant local CSOs that are mentionable for significant and irreplaceable contribution to the realization of societal development and transformation in Ethiopia.

Currently, PDN is working in partnership with Creative Associates International and its partners to implement a civic engagement project in Kemisse town administration for a year beginning from April 2024 with the support of USAID Ethiopia Civic Engagement Activity. Hence, PDN is looking for a fulltime competent professional person to employ as MEL officer of the project.

The PC will be a fulltime employee of PDN meant exclusively for the management of the above mentioned project. Hence, the PC will base at a project office established in Kemisse town administration, Amhara region, wherein the project is implemented; and will report to Program Coordination Unit (PCU) of PDN main office based in Addis Ababa. The position holder will be responsible to ensure successful implementation of the project as per stated in the project document.

The following are the main responsibilities of the position holder:

  •  Organize and manage the project office,
  •  Ensure proper & timely execution of project activities working with project office staff as a team and leadership role,
  •  Prepare & execute monthly operational plan for the purpose of tracking project implementation at large and execution of activities in particular,
  •  Collect, review and verify monthly report on execution of project activities from the MEL officer,
  • Have frequent engagement with stakeholders to collect feedbacks and verify monitoring records/reports at project office level,
  •  Prepare & submit monthly activity monitoring summary report to PDN program coordination unit at main office
  • Prepare & submit quarterly project implementation status narrative report to PCU in line with donor and government reporting templates and schedules,
  •  Ensure that all project staffs are working as a team and gender equity & social inclusion (GESI) issues are integrated in all project activities executed,
  • Update the PCU on the work-on-progress and challenges faced in execution of project activities.
  •  Ensure all necessary documents for project management are properly filed and kept both in hard and soft copies.

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social sciences, Statistics, monitoring and evaluation, or related field is required or demonstrated equivalent work experience in the field.
  • At least five years experience in management of donor financed projects
  •  Demonstrated experience in staff leadership and team work.
  •  Effective English oral and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills
  •  Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team member

 Appreciated knowledge and skills:

  •  Previous experience working with international NGOs are strongly preferred
  •  Strong communication with local languages
  • Working in hard/difficult conditions and tight schedules,
  • working with a large variety of people who will be diverse culturally, economically and in social status
