Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from its current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role in the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega-scale projects.

To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise of three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.

EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro-Mechanical Solutions, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.

EEIG Construction is launched with the vision of being the best construction company in Ethiopia with a strategy of Timeously executing high-end complex projects, by utilizing proactive management skills as a Design and Build Contractor in order to achieve an optimum return and aspiring to be a competitive and preferred choice that can replace the current dependence on international contractors and deliver excellence. EEIG Construction will uphold Courage, Integrity, Reliability, Value for its People and Innovation as its core values.

As its first project – EEIG is going to build a 30-floor high-rise Headquarter Building in the city center of Addis Ababa – that will be designed and built by its in-house consultancy and construction business units.

Scope of the role

To support the On-Site Engineering per the relevant scope requirements, ensuring that all installation/statutory/consultants/local authorities approvals and guidelines are applied on site at all times and that the Contract Specifications and Requirements are upheld as per the Company QA/QC policies. Staff & Labor Performance Efficiencies are to be recorded and reported weekly to senior management. Contract Engineering documentation and Delivery requirements are to be disseminated by the Site Engineer.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all contract specifications and guidelines are adhered to at all times during the commencement/construction/handover periods of the project.
  • Ensure that material submittals are issued with the relevant consultant's requirements and that the site teams have usable and up-to-date information. A register must be put in place and maintained at all times.
  • Ensure that all Method Statements & Risk Assessments are in line with company HSE/QA-QC procedures. This information must also be recorded on a usable platform. Make sure that all compliance statements, testing and commissioning, spares, warranties and delivery period requirements are upheld at all times.
  • Support procurement/long lead item schedule in tandem with your line managers/project engineers indicating delivery dates and the status of the pending material/s deliveries and follow-up delivery dates whilst recording any issues which may impact programme delivery.
  • Control the dissemination of contractual documents (drawings/contracts/specifications) – usable drawings and information must be issued to the relevant site team members to be able to carry out works per the specifications and contract requirements within the time frame of the programme.
  • Changes to the scope of work must be forwarded to the Commercial Team immediately.
  • Manage the on-site Drawing Control and As Built Information making sure that all drawings are checked and signed off prior to issuing to the relevant team members – a weekly record of drawing updates and change requirements must be kept at all times indicating relevant changes to the built systems.
  • Uphold and maintain the QA/QC requirement of the project and make sure that the installations are checked and signed off by the relevant team members prior to issuing inspection documentation.
  • You will also be expected to carry out/manage full material take-offs and issue the relevant measurables in tandem with the SE’s & CM’s and confirm compliance requirements are adhered to at all times.
  •  Make sure that project team efficiencies are recorded and reported to your senior managers and make sure that delays, stoppages, constraints and deviations are recorded weekly and issued to the site planner or project manager.
  • Make sure that Testing & Commissioning Requirements, spare requirements, Warranty and Defect Liability Periods are understood during the closing out period of the contract and that all written compliance is agreed upon and signed off by the responsible parties.

Educational Qualification 

  • BSc in Civil Engineering or related field of study
