PATH seeks to hire Two Temporary Drivers who will be based at the Addis Ababa office with frequent travel to field offices. He/she will be frequently traveling to the PATH operational area and other towns in Ethiopia for fieldwork.

The Driver will also support the day-to-day work of the country office, zonal and Woreda region by providing transportation and logistical support at the implementation level.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure passenger safety by enforcing seat belt use and adherence to traffic rules.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicles (oil, water, battery, brakes, tires).
  • Use PATH's vehicles exclusively for authorized business.
  • Record daily activities in a log sheet, including mileage, fuel consumption, and destinations.
  • Take required steps in case of accidents, and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support as directed.
  • Work flexibly, covering all departures, and ensuring safety on planned routes.
  • Monitor roads for crime occurrences and ensure basic tool kits and first aid kits are available in the vehicle.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles in roadworthy and clean condition, conducting preventive maintenance.
  • Check and maintain oil, and lubricant levels, and report major maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ensure valid insurance and annual inspection of PATH vehicles, maintaining documentation.
  • Keep assigned vehicles clean, orderly, and serviceable; perform minor preventive maintenance.
  • Prepare and present monthly reports on activities, fuel consumption, and expenditure.
  • Fulfill any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Successful completion of 12th-grade education is a prerequisite.
  • Possession of an Auto Mechanics Level 3 certificate is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is a crucial requirement.
  • Prior experience in driving for International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) is preferred.
  • Fundamental skills in vehicle repair and maintenance are expected.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a driver with a government or international organization, including expertise in driving four-wheel-drive vehicles, is essential.
  • Holding a valid Grade 3 driving license is mandatory for consideration.
