Purpose of the Job:

The purpose of the Finance Officer position is to coordinate, administer, control, monitor, and periodically summarize the extent of financial operations and performance as well as ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures of the Regional Office. She/he provides effective and efficient support and advice to the Regional Office Program and operation Manager, Project Managers, and other team members as required.

Job Description

Financial Management

  • Prepares and supervises the preparation of financial analysis regarding Advances, based on organization and donors’ procedures.
  • Ensures that books of accounts are maintained checks, receipts, vouchers, and other financial documents are kept properly and that they are safeguarded against misuse.
  • Review petty cash payments and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Ensures field-office compliance with SNV’s accounting policy as per SNV Global Finance and Administration policy and procedures manual as well as policy and procedure as established by SNV Ethiopia HO.
  • Make sure to follow the procedures of the procurement Manual.

Cash Management:

  • Monitor cash flow and manage petty cash, ensuring adequate funds are available for daily operations.
  • Ensures that all cash collected is deposited daily in the bank.

Data Entry

  • Updating the payment information in SBD on a weekly basis.

Filling /Maintain Proper Documentation

  • Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Arrange all financial documents for internal as well as external auditors up on request.

Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies, procedures, and donor regulations.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including banks, vendors, and donors, to resolve financial issues and ensure smooth operations.

Staff Management

  • Completes all performance management activities including performance planning, monitoring, and annual performance appraisals.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Management or other relevant fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in general in financial accounting.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably in a field office or non-profit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office applications.

Additional Information

Contract Type: National

Expected start date: 15, January 2024.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Contract Duration: One year with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability.
