Job Summary
Human resource management is premised on the idea that organizational success stems from the ability to extract a greater degree of willing employee commitment to an organization’s objectives. What matters is the way in which employees choose to undertake their jobs and, crucially, the extent of ‘discretionary effort’ they are prepared to expend. Raising levels of employee engagement is releasing employee discretion and aligning employee interests more closely with managerial goals, predicated on the assumption that this will in turn boost organizational performance.
The Officer is the one who is responsible for an organization's employee engagement and Industrial Relations strategy. Engagement officer is, first and foremost, engaging. He/she is the kind of person other people like having around.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop the engagement strategies and Implement the best engagement practice, Enhance the culture of staff engagement in the organization and proactively focus interventions, through regular staff surveys, and responses to the feedback received /for Engagement.
- Create a modern approach to employee relations that enables them to contribute productively to the achievement of the organization's vision
- Ensure that organizational health, safety and well-being policies are in place and practiced in the physical working environment that will enable and encourage high performance and efficiency and reduce risk to the organization and its employees for engagement
- The officer is responsible for managing employee relations cases and investigations and is expected to demonstrate a clear understanding of legal compliance, applicable workplace laws, regulations, and HFE policies and procedures and oversight of staff engagement activities.
- Develop and implement employee recognition program, participates in and support the documentation of investigations of workplace complaints and allegations such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, hostile work environment, and policy violations.
- Conducts exit interviews, analyzing trends or opportunities for feedback or improvement, particularly in areas related to employee engagement.
- Improving the way, we listen to, communicate, engage and motivate staff
- Making sure employees have a voice that is visibly listened to.
- To ensure that the development and delivery of effective engagement tools/KPIs/ are developed, maintained, and evaluated to ensure effectiveness.
- To coordinate and evaluate the effectiveness of the workforce engagement strategy
- Keep up to date with knowledge of contemporary engagement theory and methods to assist with the HFE's aim of being an employer of choice
- To take responsibility for own continuous professional development
- Lead the implementation of a new internal engagement platform that aims to build networks and empower employees to take direct ownership of their role and relation
- Coordinating monthly and annual recognition awards, aligned with our values
- Working closely with the events team and other internal stakeholders to org-wide employee events, working to develop engaging content that inspires and motivates our staff.
- Keeping up to date with good practices and developments in engagement, leveraging external networks where appropriate.
- Coordinate the development of Human Resources policies for the organization with regard to employee relations and engagement
- Communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws to employees and other concerned bodies/when required/in relation to Engagement and Industrial Relations
- Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation;
- Participate in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns arise as required
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills Needed
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management or related fields.
- 3+ years of work experience.
