Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Plumbing Maintenance Worker (Residential).

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (44 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

Working in the Facility Management section of the Embassy, the Plumbing Maintenance Worker carries out scheduled and unscheduled plumbing preventive maintenance and repair work on mission buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties. The job holder would repair, and install plumbing as needed to support a variety of systems including but not limited to plumbing building and mechanical systems, potable water treatment and storage, wastewater treatment, fire sprinkler, swimming pool, and landscape irrigation.

 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of building plumbing and mechanical systems is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary School is required and/or completion of vocational training from an accredited institution recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with a concentration in plumbing principles and application is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 3 (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required.

 Level 2 (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required (These may be tested).

Skills and Abilities:- 

  • Communication and interpersonal skills to answer queries from end-users.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, work under pressure, and have a tight schedule.
  • A flexible approach to work shifts and answering emergency calls at all hours.
  • A current driver's license is required (minimum Grade II). (This may be tested)

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

COVID-19 Requirements for Eligible Family Members
